I'm celebrating!

Kool and the Gang - Celebrate (1980)

[via FoxyTunes / Kool & The Gang]

This afternoon I had my last Radiotherapy treatment at Southampton General Hospital! I can't tell you how happy I am to get my life back, and restore some kind of normality. I have spent the past 5 or so weeks doing the monotonous daily 80 mile round trip from home to the Oncology Centre. I spent 10 days of that time as an inpatient at the Hospital as the infection became quite severe and I was admitted as an emergency. I am much improved now, and despite being given another course of antibiotics to take yesterday, can honestly say, that despite the expected side effects of weeks and weeks of radiotherapy and antibiotics; Ceflexin, Vancomycin and now Erythromycin, I haven't felt as well in months!

So, with my treatment almost done, I am looking forward to a healthier future. That's something to celebrate in my book. Woooooooooooooo Hoooooooooooooooo!

hurrayyyyy! I am really glad for you.

I had a course of antibiotics recently for a bad kidney infection (I normally avoid them enthusiastically because of upset stomach etc) and I was the only person at a lunch for friends who didn't get food poisoning. Silver lining or what?

Fantastic news, I'm thrilled for you. (Good job you don't have to go to Southampton General to get the hangover treated...)
Erythromycin makes me throw up as well.

Thank you all!

Emma and Victoria, Erythromycin has a pretty dire effect on my innards too, currently taking 2000mg a day for 10 days (it's such a waste of mince pies!).

One of the difficult things was trying not to lose too much weight, as doing so effected where the radiation beams ended up on my body. Not easy when you were racing to the loo for one end or other to purge itself and being offered hospital food, Eugh!

Could be worse though, I developed an allergy to Penicillin some years ago that almost killed me!

Hi Zoe, you are a brave woman and holding your head up high, between loo visits, as an inspiration to us all. We join you in the celebration dance----- --- ---- ----- --- (dancing feet all over the room!)

Hello Zoe, and best wishes to you on your continuing recovery. You certainly have been holding your spirit and wit in a place we can all see ... even from this other side of the Atlantic.

Interesting that you have another Frances commenting.
