Guess What?

The infection is back with a vengeance. I am currently taking two different antibiotics, my skin is falling off - yes literally. I have infected weeping Cellulitis in and around the breast that had surgery. I am in quite a lot of pain too. I am in danger of eating a GP receptionist if they are obstructive again, I am sick to death with little Hitlers that think they know my medical history and needs better than me! Test results that were due back yesterday still aren't available and all I get is 'I don't know'. I want to scream at them, 'well bliddy well go and find out, and when you have let my GP know and make me an appointment to see him'. For once I am feeling totally fed up, under the weather and liable to going under, all because I haven't the energy to do battle with stupid officious women who think working in a Doctor's surgery gives them some kind of right to be rude, apathetic, and darn right arrogant. GRRRRRR!

So sorry to here you're having a tough time. It's frustrating when you need to be balshy to get heard.

I'm serving you a virtual cup of tea and a biscuit.

I have only just found you and your blog, was a bit afraid to read it to be honest as I lost my best friend to cancer a few years ago and it is still a sadness in my life.

No stranger to gobby receptionists either, since my health means I occasionally have to do battle with them to get what I want. Oh for the days when I knew my doctor by his Christian name, when if I rang up I could speak to him and without going through the battlefield of a receptionist.

I wish I could say something which would brighten your day, bring a smile to your face, but I know there are some days when nothing, but nothing, will lift the mood and really, for me, the best way when that happens is just to go with it, rant and rave, throw something, have a cry, then sit down exhausted. I hope having the rant helped though.

My best wishes to you....

You don't want to eat a receptionist, Zoe, they're full of gristle and it'd be like eating shoe leather. Better to decapitate one and put their head on a spike outside the surgery as a warning to the others.

I do hope you're able to see your doctor and get this well and truly sorted out. It sounds absolutely rotten. I'd be tempted to skip the tea and go straight for the gin, personally... ;-)

Oh Zoe, I'm so sorry. You ahve every right to feel as you do, go with it for a while, maybe snuggle under a warm blanket and sleep for a bit.

Keep at it Zoe, polite and VERY assertive is the best way to win through, though I know that's very difficult when you feel really grotty.

Hello Zoe,

Keep up the ranting, and your sense of what these doctors and their staff ought to be doing to help their patients. (Keeping your patience all the time sometimes just translates into meekness to be trampled on by others. It really is good to know when to roar and when to purr.)

Definitely roar now! I so wish that I were nearer, because I would surely go with you to that receptionist. Maybe on your next visit there do imagine all of your virtual supporters crowded with you into that room.

Am so sorry that you have an infection Zoe, after everything. Sadly there is little I can say to help. But be assured that your purple coo friends are right there with you and wishing you to feel better soon.

warm wishes

Oh this is just so not fair Zoe. You are really going through the mill and as for b*****y receptionists, I can only agree - couldn't get past them years ago with my 14month old daughter who had been ill and was becoming listless, etc. Finally marched in with her and was sent straight to hospital where she was placed on a drip. She had samonella and would not have survived if left another 24 hours!!!! Argh! So my sympathies are entirely with you. Demand what you need (though shouldn't have to when this low) and take care of you. Snuggle as Elizabeth said. Much love Zoe xxx

Oh Zoe this is 100% NOT FAIR!!! I suggest a lightly griddled receptionist, then boil for a few minutes in oil and chuck her in the moat. Don't bother to eat them, they are tough and tasteless. Just plot their end.

I am thinking of you Zoe. Who would have thought that a hibiscus would be the perfect illustration of anger and pain. I am so sorry that you are going through this.

Sweetie, I advise you to phone the surgery, ask to leave a message for the practice manager which says: you WILL be phoning the complaint manager at your local PCT if you do not have a satisfactory response by 3pm tomorrow (Friday). Your PCT commission your GP services and they will want answers as to why you are having to go through this. Please email me if you want to discuss in further detail djkirkby@gmail.com

Sounds like your day sucked a golf ball through a ten meter frozen garden hose. I have to agree with former commentors; GP receptionists are not tasty enough to be eaten. I'm not even sure if they would be good in the garden; probably too acidic and lacking too much nutrients to be dug down somewhere.

Since laughter is a good medecine I leave two urls that may ease the pain a bit
icanhascheezburger.com
cakewrecks.blogspot.com

Lots of (gentle) hugs!

Fight it Zoë. Fight it. Am prepared to rant and rave on your behalf. My hackles are up. You should not have to do this.

I am imagining holding your hand as I write this in solidarity and support.
Best wishes, F

Zoë, they have said it all. I am so dreadfully sorry that you are having to go through all this, when you were making good progress. I agree with the others about treatment of receptionist - would taste quite revolting. Stick in there - I know that 'can't do any more feeling' but we are all willing you on and I hope you can draw on us for strength. Still praying.

Zoe, you poor thing. Mr.T is just going through another bout of Cellulitis in his leg.He can't stand or walk. It is the most painful condition.I have great sympathy for you, as I know how upsetting and disheartening dealing with medical people can be. It is hard enough to cope with an illness without having added stress.Keep you heart up, and I hope you will feel better soon.I will remember you in my prayers. xx

This brings tears to my eyes. This is NOT how it should be for you - your energy should be saved for fighting the illness not the people who should be caring for you. I can assure you that requesting the complaints procedure from the Practice Manager (see DJKirby) will make them sit up sharpish.

Hi Zoe,
Just been catching up on a few blogs and am sorry to find you feeling so poorly and having to deal with an arrogant and obstuctive receptionist, we have one of those too, so can sympathise.
Congrats on your 50th, I am almost there too.
I hope now the radiotherapy is over you can begin to get your strength back.
Best wishes.

Can you not ask to speak to your GP on the phone? We can here, the GP will ring us when she has time.I would demand this if I were you. Also have you a nurse you can speak to?

Totally and completely outrageous. I don't know Elizabethm, but sounds like she's got the right idea. I vote in favor of the lightly griddled course of action, followed by moat-immersion. Oh, and when they plead for mercy, explain that that's not your pervue, and they have to come back on Monday with forms filled out in triplicate.

As for the infection, damn and blast it. Enough is enough!
